UCL Eastman Dental Hospital and Institute

The world renowned Department of Craniofacial Growth and Development at UCL Eastman Dental Institute has a first class reputation for the correction of dental and facial problems in both children and adults. Orthodontic and surgical teams from the Eastman, Great Ormond Street Hospital and UCLH produce fantastic improvements in both appearance and function. These changes transform the lives of those affected, both physically and psychologically.  Our joint research is currently studying the three-dimensional facial changes which occur during both normal and abnormal growth, from infants to adulthood. This information can then be used when planning surgery to correct these problems.

3DMD – the company behind the camera

3dMD technology offers ultra-fast precision technology to assist doctors/researchers with their decision process in facial surgery. The 3dMD camera has a 1.5 millisecond capture speed, which is effectively instantaneous. 3dMD imaging systems are simple and easy to use. They allow for the simple assessment and evaluation of the patients external surface. There is no risk of radiation which is associated with other imaging techniques. Images of before and after treatment of facial deformities can be monitored in a variety of patient postures and expressions. This allows for better planning in craniofacial surgery.
